Nearly to the End! June 21, 2009, 11:58 pm
Welcome Friends and Family, It has been sometime since I have updated everyone on my fight to the end! First, I would like to tell everyone that I am feeling great and staying very active. Just to get everyone caught up on my status, I had taken a couple of special blood tests in the last 4 months that have shown significant signs of improvement. The first test that I took was back in January and the abnormal cell was at a count of .572. In the more recent tests the disease lowered all the way down too .005. Yes, this is certainly a good thing! We are nearly there friends we just need to reach a count that shows all Zero's. One thing is still uncertain is the medicine, I am unsure as to how long or indefinite it will be so I hope its not for to much longer! Now, I would like to tell you about some of the things that have taken place since my last blog and some things that are going on in my life. First, I would like to congratulate the the boys I worked with this past season at Ponca City High School on winning the schools 4th dual state title and were state runners-up at the state tournament. Each wrestler worked very hard to achieve those accomplishments and I am proud of each one of them! A few weeks ago I participated in my first Relay for Life and I have to say it was a blast being around many people who have battled just like myself. I learned that everyone has their story in life whether its the person struck with cancer or even the people that are close to them. Honestly, these stories make us stronger and show the rest of us how things in life could be worse. Lastly, this fall I will be returning to Edmond to go to Graduate school to further my education and I will also have the opportunity to coach for the UCO wrestling program. I love Ponca City and all the people that I worked with but this is just an opportunity for me to reach higher goals in my life. I am a fortunate person to be able to have the people that I have in my life! I pray that it stays that way to the end of time! "Everyday is a New Fight" Jason Leavitt

My last doctor visit went very well! The biggest concern that the doctors did have was my spleen. My spleen was one of the most pronounced sign of leukemia because it acts as a filter of the blood. The spleen had swollen to an abnormal size putting me at great risk to serious injury. During the time of my swollen spleen, I was instructed that I couldn''t participate in any physical activity. I hated this because I loved to work out with the guys at practice and I couldn''t! Having only one certain way of knowing that my spleen was ok I went in for my second of only two CAT scans. After the results of my last scan it confirmed that it had went back to normal and the doctors gave me a release to participate in physical activity, again at last! Also, since my diagnoses I would report for routine check ups of my white cell count twice a week. The cells began to decrease for the better so my check ups were cut back to once a week and gladly to say every other week. During my trials and tribulations I have seen many things that I didn''t see before. It opened my eyes to what many people we live with today go through on a daily basis. I am lucky to have what I do because there is a medication called Gleevec to control it.

Welcome October 15, 2008, 2:15 pm

First of all, I would like to welcome everyone to my site. I would also like to thank those who have left comments and also those who have purchased T-Shirts along with donations. Before I talk about myself I would like to talk about a 10 year old boy name David. I was only able to visit with him for a short time but it really ment alot to me; I could just see that he had a lot of heart, strength, and most of all love from his parents. David is battling his bout with cancer like many others and he quickly became an inspiration to me just to see that he truly is a fighter. I believe that things happen to people like us to show those out there how life really isn''t as hard as we think. Things like this make things much more difficult in many aspects but it will only make us stronger physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually.

Now, on my last doctor''s visit I received good news. The news that I received was that with my next doctor''s visit I will have my blood checked to see if any cancer cells exist in my body. I will still remain taking my medicine for an indefinate amount of time but that''s ok. When I heard this, it was a very emotional time for me, I just thanked God and everyone who has been there for me during this time to make my recovery much quicker. I still have to report once a week for regular blood check-ups since my white blood count is so low. Since the white count is so low, I have to be careful that I don''t get sick because this will make it much harder for me to get well again. I still feel tired due mostly to my medicine that I am taking but that''s just part of it, it certainly could be worse! Lastly, of you out there I would like to ask that you find it within yourselves to go out of your way to help not only myself but others that are stricken with hard times. I ask that you spend a little but if you can''t just try to talk to them to just lift his or her spirits. Remember nothing is to small or to large whether through donations or a simple prayer!

"Whatever brings you down can only make you stronger"

Thank you,
