 Although
there is never a good time to receive a diagnosis of Leukemia, Jason's
news came at the worst possible time. He had just graduated from The
University of Central Oklahoma in December 2007 with a Bachelor of
Science degree, and was hired as an assistant wrestling coach at his
Alma Mater, Ponca City High School in Ponca City, Oklahoma. At the time
he was hired no full time teaching positions were available, so he was
hired as a contract substitute teacher. Currently, he is not covered
under the school's health insurance plan. If Jason is hired when a
fulltime position becomes available he most likely will be denied
coverage due to his pre-existing medical condition.
As part of
his treatment program Jason has been prescribed the prescription drug,
Gleevec, which costs around $3,200 per month. Our community has rallied
around Jason and we have held a radio auction of donated items, hosted a
very successful blood drive in Jason's name, and designed a t-shirt
supporting Jason's fight against this cancer. You can order a t-shirt
